Why Does it Feel Like Winter will Never End?

I am desperately in search of some family fun, outside the house. It seems that despite the calendar inching towards spring and the days getting longer, this winter seems to be lasting forever. Winter is almost over and while I know that, it doesn’t feel that way. It feels as if we have been cooped up in this house for years rather than just a few months.

I talked with my family to see if I could entice them into a family activity outside of the house. It will probably do us all some good to go someplace and do something together. We came up with a few different options to keep us from getting the winter time blues.

  • Ice skating at the indoor rink
  • A visit to grandmas house
  • Going to the movies
  • The arcade at the mall
  • A trip to the bookstore
  • The indoor go-kart track

Obviously not everyone in the family will like every one of these options so we decided to pick my son’s top choice and my daughter’s top choice. My son wanted to go to the indoor go-kart track and my daughter wanted to go to the movies. We decided that on Friday night we would go to the movies to see my daughter’s choice of flicks and on Saturday we would head to the indoor go-kart track and stop at grandma’s house on the way back for dinner.

Everyone seemed agreeable to this plan of attack and seemed happy to be doing something active and getting out of this house for a little while. It was nice to be able to plan something as a family without having to try to hard to coordinate schedules or argue about what we would do. It seems that everyone is looking forward to a little break in the winter routine.
