Homemade Overnight Creams for Acne

A comment on my post about oil glands and acne got me looking into home treatments for acne again, in particular, overnight creams. During my search, I found a variety of home remedies that are thought to work well for acne. The request for an overnight cream for acne actually led me to find a recipe for natural face wash treatments, and one overnight cream. Both remedies are easy to make and got great reviews from people who used them. I plan to share these with my daughter with the hope that she will be willing to give them a try after the Neutrogena runs out and before starting Proactiv.

The natural treatments are great because they are typically made from ingredients you can find around the house and they are fun to make. Unfortunately, we have not had much success with any treatments up to this point, but with all the positive reviews, my fingers are crossed. The way I see it, anything is worth a shot.

Cinnamon Honey Overnight Cream

  • Three tablespoons of honey
  • One teaspoon of cinnamon powder

  • Mix the ingredients together and apply the paste on the pimples before bed
  • Wash off the paste the next morning with warm water
  • Apply every night for two weeks and pimples should disappear

Yogurt Honey Acne Cream

  • One teaspoon of honey
  • One tablespoon of natural yogurt (Do not use low-fat yogurt)

  • Heat up the honey for about 30 seconds so it becomes softer
  • Mix the teaspoon of honey with the tablespoon of yogurt
  • Wash your hands and use your fingers to apply the yogurt mixture to your face
  • Leave for about 20 – 30 minutes before cleaning the cream off with a warm wash cloth
  • Use this nightly or as needed to reduce acne spots

Both of these recipes are easy and most people will probably have the ingredients on hand. No fuss and no mess. We will hope for the best. I would love to hear if anyone gives these a try and how they worked for them.
