How Long Does an Acne Treatment Take to Work… Seriously?

OK, so I know this question might sound as if it’s coming from my tween daughter, and it is in part, but I’m also confused about how long we should wait before jumping to something new. I don’t know if her impatience has rubbed off, but when I look back on the last few months I realize that we’ve been through quite a few acne treatments in a really short space of time.

Most recently was the essential oil treatment using bergamot oil, before that we tried changing up her diet, and prior to that there was the drama with using egg shells for acne. Who can forget about our lemon and turmeric face mask (very messy business with my son trying to get in on the action) or the acne treatment kit I found at the drugstore? And even before that, we had a brief tango with another essential oil, lavender oil.

Just recapping all the treatments we have used in the past few months makes my head spin. I can’t help but wonder if this is normal or if we are bailing out on them just before we are about to get that miracle breakthrough. I picture Rose from the Titanic on that piece of wreckage shaking Jack because the rescue boats are coming, but he died just moments before. Alright so I’m being a bit dramatic, but you get my point! This is frustrating! How am I supposed to know if it will work or if I should cut my losses and move on to something else?

I feel like I’m allowing my twelve (soon to be thirteen) year old daughter run the show, all because I haven’t got a clue what we’re doing. Of course, depending on what the acne treatment says is pointless because most of them claim to work either instantly or within an extremely short time period, which is why it’s hard to convince my daughter to slow down and give them a proper try. I guess I’m having a bit of a bad day because the essential oils that my daughter was using most recently haven’t had the expected result, but I think that’s because she applied too much. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to move on and see how things develop.

If anyone can give some guidance on how long you should generally use the same treatment before you can expect to see results, can you please leave me a comment?
